As they say, April showers bring May flowers, and the Meetings and Events industry is in bloom! From product launches to expansions, to increased funding – the industry just continues to grow.
Funding Announcements
At the top of the month, Bizzabo announced the closing of $6.5 million series A Funding to expand their product offering as they continue to move towards their goal of becoming, “THE Salesforce for events.” According to EventIndustryNews.com, “The investment brings Bizzabo’s total funding to $14.5 million, signifying a key industry endorsement of Bizzabo’s unique Events Cloud technology. The new capital will be invested into building new innovative capabilities and into supporting the company’s rapidly growing customer base.”
Business and Product Expansions
Speaking of expanding product lines, Freeman also recently announced the launch of OnlineEvent, “a new solution designed to help marketers and event organizers leverage content, expand their reach and create new sources of revenue.” And, this month in a press release, CadmiumCD just further expanded its international growth into the UK and EMEA markets.
More Options for those Hunting for New Venues
If you’re on the hunt for new venues, this month brought us some good news. Microsoft announced that it would be helping Eventopedia maximize efficiency through Microsoft’s Bizspark+ program. According to Microsoft UK’s Small and Medium Business Blog, “The BizSpark program is aimed at small businesses with big ambitions and eligible companies receive funding and access to Microsoft’s suite of software and expertise to realise their vision.”
Eventopedia helps event planners find venues worldwide, but if you’re looking specifically in the UK, you could look to The Unique & Unusual Venue Report launched this month by Lime Venue Portfolio. You can read more about the launch here at EventIndustryNews.com.
The Event Technology Awards and IMEX17 in Frankfurt
While the Event Technology Awards are a while away (in November), the deadline to enter is May 31st. And the first 10 judges were just announced through a press release from the event. “The [selected judges] reflect ETA organisers’ commitment to sourcing experts in step with technology’s reach and impact across the event model in order to reflect the spread of awards’ categories and clout.”
Last but certainly not least (and coming up fast), IMEX17 is taking place in just a few weeks in Frankfurt, Germany. The Meeting Pool will have a presence at the event by powering the TECHknowledge Area where exhibitors and attendees alike can come ask questions, get hands-on experience with the latest gadgets, and learn about the best tech tools to solve a variety of challenges facing events professionals.
