Heading to IMEX America 2014?
Don’t panic. We’ve got you covered. Here are some app suggestions from last year, and we have here a few new apps that might also be handy. Check it out, and don’t forget to share!
And… if you’re a Hosted Buyer at the show, be sure to look for The Meeting Pool staff in the Hosted Buyer Lounge where we can answer all of your tech questions LIVE! See you in Vegas!
IMEX America – Official Show App – Obtainable from the main site here.
This year’s app has an emphasis on appointment management plus all the benefits of last year’s app – make your schedule work for you! Easily access what you need on your tablet or phone for a great show. Don’t forget to share your experiences with the hashtag #IMEX14! (Hint: you can do it from within the app.)
Hyperlapse – Available on iOS.
I’ve always thought time lapses were cool – and now it’s super easy to make your own with this new app from the developers of Instagram! Capture your awesome moments at IMEX14 with this app.
Evernote – Available on iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Windows. Also available on your browser and desktop.
Evernote was on our list last year – and it is again. Why? Since May 2014, Evernote has partnered up with LinkedIn to help create content-rich notes around the business cards you scan by pulling in data from LinkedIn (assuming that your contact has a LinkedIn account). Now it’ll be even easier to connect with the people you meet at IMEX14!
Mynd Calendar – Available on iOS.
This calendar is designed for busy people on the go to help with time management – it does so much more than your regular calendar. Even the free version has some amazing features that will be helpful like one click dial-in to conference calls, meeting scheduling, pulling up relevant meeting notes from Evernote, and more! Definitely useful for busy #eventprofs! It also has an aesthetically pleasing interface, which is always a plus.
Refresh – Available on iOS.
Hate small talk? Refresh wants to help. By pulling up relevant information on the people you’re meeting with, you can find common ground more easily and have more meaningful conversations. With the amount of conversations you’ll be having at IMEX14, I think that’d be helpful – don’t you?
AroundMe – Available on iOS, Android, and Windows.
Need and can’t find a gas station? No problem. Not familiar with the area and want to find a great bar to hang out at? No problem! AroundMe can identify your position and pull up all the businesses in the chosen category with their distances from your current location.
Urbanspoon – Available on iOS, Android, Windows, and even Kindle Fire.
Hungry? Want to try something new? Try the Urbanspoon apps, codename: Restaurant Slot Machine! By hitting the Shake button or actually shaking your phone (I prefer the latter), it’ll settle on a good nearby restaurant. Who’s ready for a food adventure in Vegas? Because I am!
IFTTT – Available on iOS and Android.
By connecting to various platforms, IFTTT can trigger an action on a platform when something happens on another – hence “IF This Then That.” Great for automating tasks across platforms – for example, with the recipe below, you’ll never lose a picture you’ve been tagged in:
10 Minute Abs – Available on iOS.
Not enough time but the drinks are starting to… show? Take 10 minutes and work on them!
Nuzzel – Available on iOS.
Keep up with the latest news from your friends with Nuzzel. Just because you’re running around on the show floor doesn’t mean you have to be disconnected from the rest of the world!
Are there any other apps you’d recommend? Share – we’d love to hear from you! And don’t forget to go and say hello to The Meeting Pool at the TECHsmart Bar in the Hosted Buyer Lounge!
