OK, you are about to plug in your computer at the biggest keynote of your life, did you remember to change your screen saver? Did you reset your power options so the damn thing does not go to sleep half way through? DID YOU?

Who cares because you can jiggle the mouse without actually jiggling the mouse.

We all have seen it happen. Halfway through a presentation the speaker’s (or house’s) computer goes into sleep mode because they have been busy answering questions or they are one of the people that have their computer set to hibernate after 1 minute. Happens all the time.

I was once working an event where the computer went to sleep and the speaker could not remember the password effectively reducing the poor man to doing shadow puppets for 40 minutes.

It is time to set it and forget it.

There is a stupid simple little program that does nothing more than simulate a mouse jiggle every once in a while to prevent your computer from experiencing digital narcolepsy and ruining your presentation (or that really freaking awesome movie you are watching on your flight to Dallas).

The program is called Mouse Jiggler (go figure) and here is the snip from their site:

Mouse Jiggler is a very simple piece of software whose sole function is to “fake” mouse input to Windows, and jiggle the mouse pointer back and forth.

Useful for avoiding screensavers or other things triggered by idle detection that, for whatever reason, you can’t turn off any other way; or as a quick way to stop a screensaver activating during an installation or when monitoring a long operation without actually having to muck about with the screensaver settings.

Now, go, get it because it really does what it says.
