Meeting and Event Marketers and the folks who create and control many event and conference websites will be bummed to know that Mark Jaquith has made the decision to pull the Post Formats UI and they not ship with the coming WordPress 3.6. WPDaily is reporting that the PFUI will come as a plugin and not part of the core.

I was actually looking forward to this feature as I think that all conference and event websites could do with a little Tumblr like action. A Tumblr (like) feel would take the pressure off of many events and conferences and allow them to post more “short form” style posts like links, quotes, and images, rather than spending hours and days preparing long blog posts.

All things being relative, the fact that many of the post types and features will be available as a plugin is reassuring that the integration to the core will be rolled out in a future update.
