May was a busy month for the meetings and events industry as we saw huge growth and interesting market shifts. Take a look at some of the biggest headlines in the meetings, events, and technology industries:

The event management software industry is hotter than ever. In April, cloud-based enterprise event management company Cvent was acquired by Vista in a $1.65 billion deal. Last month event management software provider etouches closed a $20 million investment round with money from new and existing investors and just this week announced their acquisition of sourcing technology company, Zentila.

Virtual reality is hot and everyone wants a piece of the action. Computex Taipei, Asia’s largest annual tech show, featured more than 30 brands of game ready, virtual reality hardware. The show opened on Monday May 30. Will a virtual meeting or trade show be far behind?

ibtm america 2016 announced that the TechCollective will feature the “ibtm america top tech innovation award.” The winner will be selected by ibtm america attendees who will be able to cast a vote for the top innovation using their Poken devices.
