DropBox is one of the most widely used cloud services in the meetings and events industry. We use it to share BEOs, meeting specs, graphics, floor plans, images and more. The best thing is that DropBox works just like the “My Documents” folder allowing even the most “tech” averse meeting and event professionals to understand and use the service.
What is Dropbox, a quick overview.
Since this post is about securing DropBox, it is important to understand what Dropbox is.
Here is the snip from the DropBox website:
Dropbox is a home for all your photos, docs, videos, and files. Anything you add to Dropbox will automatically show up on all your computers, phones and even the Dropbox website — so you can access your stuff from anywhere.
Dropbox also makes it super easy to share with others, whether you’re a student or professional, parent or grandparent. Even if you accidentally spill a latte on your laptop, have no fear! Relax knowing that your stuff is safe in Dropbox and will never be lost.
That is it in a nutshell. For an even better understanding, check out this video.
I love Dropbox and although it is much more secure since a major security breach a few years ago, there are still things that you can do to protect your data.
This infographic shows six ways to lock down the files and folders in your DropBox account.
